Inspiring Business: The Binding

The Binding is a Sunshine Coast based graphic design and branding studio that evolved from the odd freelance project into a fully-fledged business with the growing demand for strong branding game.

They predominantly work alongside startups and early stage businesses who are pioneering the tech and lifestyle industries. With their projects they understand that there’s a lot more to it than just pretty pairings of typography and graphics. It’s about finding the client’s purpose and building a brand with that at the core.

I spoke to Madeline the founder and she gave me the low-down on the groovy design studio and why she started The Binding...

1.     Personally what has been the one key challenge you have had to over come with starting a business?

In the beginning, time management was a big issue to navigate. Have you seen the beaches around here? But in all seriousness, getting the right systems and processes in place from the outset would have helped us tremendously.

2.     How do you stay motivated?

I truly love what I do, being a part of each client’s journey as their vision comes to life is priceless. I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by like-minded people who are all conquering their own goals. Seeing their work ethic keeps me on track.

3.     What is your fave part of being able to have an online business?

I love the challenge of keeping up with the ever changing online world, and how this effects my business. Location isn’t a limit – I’ve worked with clients all over the world, as far as Hawaii. The nature of our work is that we are easily accessible, and social media has made it so much easier for us to showcase our work worldwide.

4.     What’s been the biggest moment of success so far?

The biggest moment of success for me was day one. Making the decision to leave my comfort zone and leap into the unknown was the best day of my life.
